Hi,

Sorry for english...

I am looking for a spot to do a little fishing, in the north of stockholm, kinda Solna - Bromma. We will be 2 french guys without boat.

We would like to fish aborre from land, so we are looking some kind of nice (not too many buildings in the area) and accessible place (walking path close to the water?). We are not too difficult about the size of the fishes :D, we just want to have a little fun.

Can you guys point me to some places we could try tomorrow morning?

Cheers

Hello! - You should try Lillsjön in Bromma thats pretty close from your location and easy accesible from land.

You should visit Sundbybergs Sportfiske if you need to buy Worms or Maggots as bait.

Thanks for quick answer !
I actually tried once Lillsjön but with very limited success. The deck on the west part of the lake looked promessing though and looked like a good spot for "gädda".
Then I did the turn around the lake and close to the canal seemed ok, but there was this day like NO activity at all: maybe it was just a bad day, or maybe I just suck fishing :)
Do you think i should give Lillsjön another go?

I was browsing a bit fiskesnack, and maybe I ll try Långholmen. I havent really figured if it was good to fish from långholmen from land, with my limited swedish understanding...

Last week I was in Judarn, but again, no success. lol. what am I doing wrong?? :)

I fish with spinners, and spoons.

Well as I said visit Sundbybergs Sportfiske and get some worms or maggots and try the canal at lillsjön... lots of fish there I belive.

Try to "meta" (dunno the english word 100%).... abborre at the canal.

While i do not know any spots i can tell you how to fish.
Sundbyberg Sportfiske is a great stora with helpful staff.

The gear you need depends on how much money you want to spend. I recomend buying a Ultralight Spinning kit, you should be able to get everything you need (rod, reel, line and leader) i reccomend using leader since pike can easily bite the line of if youre lucky enought to catch one. But some small spinners and Crankbaits and maybe some topwater lures

If you dont want to spend to much money buy a Floatfishing rod and maggots or worms. Berkley Powerbait Sparkle Eggs are a great bait.

Just go in to any fishing store and get help just say you want to fish Abborre and then either Floatfishing with worms or Spinning.

Cool.
Thanks for the answers. But just so you know guys, I ve already been to sundbybergs sportfiske butik several times to buy stuff :D and i already have a fishing rod.

I fish with lures and had some success in Brunnsviken and marginally in the Mälaren close to Huvudsta with small spinners and spoons like Abu Toby. I never managed to get anything with a jig, though I tried several times. And so far I only got small "aborre", with the exception of one which was big enough to be eaten (Brunnsviken).

If you wanna know the whole story :), a friend of mine comes from france to visit and we plan to go fishing saturday and sunday. I already planned one of the days to be in Brunnsviken, but I d like to find another good place to fish from land.

I am not really interested in fishing "mete", and I try to focus on lures. Any tips regarding lure fishing is welcome though, as obviously my technique is not settled yet, and I am unsure of what was the difference when I did catch fishes and when I didnt.

To sum up my few tries in the area:

- 8 small perches close to Huvudsta in the Mälaren
- several small perches in Brunnsviken (Hagaparken side)
- one big perch in Brunnsviken (Hagaparken side)
- Lillsjön one time --> nothing
- Judarn two times --> nothing
- I ve only fished in Hagaprken for Brunnsviken. I wonder how it is on the north/east/south part of the lake, is it accessible from land, and is it "better" than the west side. So far this has been the best place for me as it combines fish activity in the water, and easy access from land. The main drawback is that it is not the pure "nature" experience with quite a lot of traffic with the park visitors.

I also found Lillsjön not so easy to access, especially when you are two people to fish.
Judarn looked really nice, but I was surprised to not have a single attack.

I usually go fishing in the morning, from 6.30 to 10 am.

I went once in Brunnsviken in the evening but no success.

Maybe with all those information you can give me even better tips ! :)

Hei jämtlandgädda,
I have some questions about the "leader", I really hate using those. Am I the only one? It really feels like I have less control of my lures, and that they dont swim as they should. But maybe it is because the ones I use are too light. Is there a minimum weight you recommend for a lure, attached to a "leader".
So far I ve been fishing with 20/100 nylon, and lures betwwen 5 and 20g (My rod is optimal for 13-30g).
What kind of lure size would you use? I have an Abu Toby 18g, and I got even very small perches with it. Should I go for bigger lures? Does this depend on the season (bigger lures in winter?)? I hate coming back with nothing, like all fishermen I guess, so I am always tempted to use not too big lures. Maybe it is bad?
What i try to do is fish quite deep to get big aborre, and middle water to get small perches and Gädda. Is it about right?
I havent almost never tried surface lures. Can they be efficient for something else than gädda? As wobblers are usually light, is it stil ok to use a leader? Doesnt it unballance a lot the lure?

Wow, that a lot of questions :)
