Fishing around Stockholm

Hi all

Sorry for using English. I am an exchange student in Stockholm and have meant to do some fishing here. I have tried a few times in downtown Stockholm in late Feb and March but with no success. Can anyone recommend some nice place reachable by public transport in Stockholm/Lake Mälaren? I live in Lappkärrsberget and would want to do some pike, perch and sea trout fishing. Also, is there any tips/ techniques fishing in these waters? I am pretty new to lure fishing as we don't have many predators back in my home country. Any advice will be appreciated

Although I'm not from Stockholm I have visited it a couple of times and fished since my grandfather used to live there. I have not caught pike or trout but I used to have great perch fishing there around Gamla Stan especially Norrström. Also fished a lot around Djurgården. That was usually in July and it was not uncommon then to catch around 100 perch per day, It may be different now.

A jig with a 2-3 inch soft plastic grub in dark green color was my to go bait. And all you need to do is to find a piece of structure like a bridge pillar a boat or a dock and let it fall down and make a couple of twitches. Be creative, perch usually hides near structures! I have tried a few times around Strömberg and Norrström with some minnows, spoons and spinners. One thing I don't understand is how do you manipulate the lure in such fast flowing water. The lure got flushed downstream in seconds.

I lived in Lappis for 6 years and you can catch perch above 1 kg at the marina down at Ekhagen. And even Brunnsviken has good perch at Bergianska trädgården. Ålkistan (canal between Brunnsviken and Lilla Värtan is another hotspot for perch but also for sea trout. Another spot is under the bridges between Edsviken and Lilla Värtan.
Ask the people from the fishing store at Valhallavägen.

I second that, just like andre says ålkistan (which is literally a 5-10 minute walk from lappis) is a great place for perch during the summers (they never get really big but youre almost guaranteed fish). It is also a spot for sea trout, some really big ones have been caught there but you need to know where and when to fish. The seatrout season at ålkistan is over (mostly during the colder months) but instead zander-season has started. If you visit ålkistan (the huge pier) at night there will always be people fishing for zander.
