"To expand on everything in the captions, I impulse bought a W300L reel because I love me a good round reel and it’s hard to find a lefty abu 1500/2500.

Taking it out of the box, it’s exceedingly light and doesn’t feel the sturdiest, but it’s rigid enough. There are a few scratches under the anodizing which didn’t bode well.

I’ll just write out a pros/cons list, and go into more detail on some things as I have the time and if anyone wants to know more. (This is typed out on my phone so formatting might be terrible, sorry)

Cons: •Build quality is definitely lower than the XF-50 and the kastking zephyr

•It’s a bit uncomfortable to palm, mostly due to the spool tension knob (that’s on both sides for some reason)

•The levelwind does not disengage, which seemingly only has a minor effect on casting distance, but more importantly is incredibly loose and rattles around constantly, even where it was shimmed.

•Also with the levelwind, it has a very hard time filling the spool evenly with a BFS appropriate amount of line on it, but that could be that the spool is just strangely large for what this reel is designed for.

•This is one of the biggest problems to me, but the spool release clutch slips out randomly, reengaging the spool whenever it feels like it. I fished for about an hour today, and had plenty of casts (20+) that made me look stupid because the spool reengaged without me noticing.

•The reel feels incredibly geary, and even with all of the grease on it just felt fairly sloppy and you could hear and feel every tooth meshing as you reeled in.

•The brakes worked acceptably, I only had a few backlashes but it was largely ok. Definitely worse than my calcuttas and abu’s, but they got the job done. That being said, this is the loudest reel I have ever cast, and I could hear it over the spillway I was fishing next to. I think with how thin the side plates are it just amplifies everything from the reel, but while not really a problem it was very annoying.

•I had originally wanted to review the reel as it came, then with the drag clicker, and then with the magnetic brakes. The drag it came with out of the box consisted of two gasket paper washers, and with or without grease the jammed up and had a very uneven braking force, and it honestly felt like it was just broken and neglected out of the box.

Pros:

•The drag clicker kit actually comes with carbontex washers, and the drag is just as smooth as all of my other reels, and the clicker makes a very pleasant sound.

• I’m gonna be honest, I brought my Morrum out because I was convinced I would hate this reel and wanted something I liked fishing. Yes this reel is very loud, it feels Geary, and the clutch was the bane of my existence for an hour with either reengaging randomly or not engaging the spool very well after a cast, but I was throwing a 2g trout spoon 10-20’ shorter than my supertuned Morrum, and for a reel without hedgehog BFS bearings and a non-disengaging levelwind, I was very impressed. Angrily impressed, even. The spool is 12g, it’s very large, it’s got random bits of plastic stuck on to it, but the thing casts 2g baits better than my zephyrs ever did, and better than my daiwa Tatula with a cheap spool swap, and that’s almost frustrating. Yes, the reel needs some work, and I doubt I’ll ever get it feeing anywhere near as nice as my enthusiast or even basic JDM reels, but the thing casts beautifully and I really have a hard time figuring out how it does it.

•The handle actually feels pretty good. It doesn’t look great, it’s covered in scratches and dings already but the knobs feel higher quality than the rest of the reel, and I think I might actually leave it on there."
