  • Line for Jerkbaitfishing in Sweden

    Hello,

i am looking for the right strenght of line for jerkbaitfishing for pikes in sweden (Blekinge...).

    My equipment:
    - Revo Toro 51 HS
    - Strike Pro Contact 6'8"
    - Big Bandit, Buster Jerk

Favourite Line ist the Spider Wire Stealth Braid.

Which strenght would you recommand me for jerbaitfishing in these areas?

    0,20 = 18,1 kg
    0,25 = 22,9 kg
    0,30 = 33,9 kg

    Thanks for your help!

    Greetings from Germany..
    Mathias

    Hallo
The most popular linedimension in Sweden is 0,32-0,36mm.
The most popular brands for Jerkbaitfishing is by far Strike Wire Extreme and Power Pro..

    Regards

....i used the Strike Wire Extreme 0,36mm before. What i did not like was that the line took much water and that the 0,36mm can "only" take 30 kg.

      Spiderwire 0.35 = 51kg.

I thought thiner line leeds to less missed bites and you can throw farer...

How many kg should the line have (is the 0,25mm with 22,9kg enought or better 0,30mm with 33.9kg)?

      Thx
      Mathias

It all depends on how big your lures are. Big lures equals to thicker line. But your 0,25mm should be enough.

          Vafan mumlar du i Lodwig?

Ont. I have mostly used powerpro 0.36 for jerkbait fishing and 0.28 for crankbaits and softbaits etc. Its the best line ive used so far. Its very strong so you will most likely destroy your hooks before the line brakes. So powerpro is my recomendation.

i tink that yo shuld sheck in your closnes fishing store for the best ecvipment to your rod and roul

but i recomend abulon 0.20 for hevy jerk fishing for pike.

            with friendly helloing from me

            Edit: Jag var ironisk.
            Lodwig tack för dagens garv

There's a difference between breaking strength and knotstrength, and i don't think Spiderwire will perform what they say. You shouldn't get caught up in all the different linemakers breaking strength that they put on the packages. In some tests, Spiderwire performed awfully when it came to both line dimension (where it was thicker) and breaking strength (not even CLOSE to what they say it is).

Use whatever dimension and make of the line that you are comfortable and used to fishing with, preferably in the dimensions of 0.30 to 0.35mm+ depending on lure size.

                  Good Luck!

I reccomend Tuff Line XP 50lb

The strenghts that you have written are way of, theres not a braided line on the market that actually 0.35 and can take 35kg, though the packaging states it is that thickness and i that strong, its not true.

40lb line is what i use for my 110g rod, for my 180g rod i used 50lb, using the Berkley Braid knot ive never lost a lure in a cast or from the bottom.
I recently broke två Owner 2/0 hooks of when i hooked a Big bandit that someone had gotten stuck o the bottom, my 50lb Tuffline had no problem breaking the Owner hooks and pulling the lure up.
